Applied Regression Analysis: Final Report (RateMyProfessors.com)

Abstract

This project is an applied regression analysis on sample study data provided within R's native 'faraway' package. Observations were collected from the website RateMyProfessors.com, targeting the responses of 366 students on a single Midwestern college campus.

This paper examines the usefulness of the website's collected variables (e.g. "Quality," "Easiness," etc.) when determining students' perceptions of quality. Specifically, this paper implies:

  • There is moderate evidence to support that gender may have an impact on students' perception of instructor quality.

  • There is very strong evidence to support that appearance may have an impact on students' perception of instructor quality.

However, diagnostics indicate that further data must be researched to secure conclusions.
